The Himalayas are the natural border between Tibet, Nepal and India. On both sides you can have great trekking against the backdrop of the mightiest mountains on earth. The most superb on the Tibetan side is doubtless the trekking loop on Everest eastside, also referred to as the Kangshung face. Your acclimatisation will be built up during the first week of sightseeing and travelling in Tibet, starting with the capital Lhasa. Of course you will meet fine examples of Tibetan culture like the Potala Palace and a few of the great monasteries on the way. From Karta your full week of trekking starts, leading you over two high passes of over 5000m with breathtaking views of the eastern Himalayas, among them Everest, Lhotse and Makalu. But the trail also leads you through valleys with a surprisingly rich flora and fauna, which you don’t see elsewhere in Tibet. Having finished the trekking part, we’ll take you for a short visit to Everest north basecamp before you continue your journey to Kathmandu, Nepal.
