In May 2000. 33 men and women departed for Tibet as members of the Everest Support Expedition (**). As well as be part of supporting a Dutch professional climbing team on Everest, we had permission to accomplish our own mission: reaching Mt Everest Advanced Basecamp, the highest point for trekkers on earth. This extraordinary trekking experience will be organized again as one of our regular projects. Your acclimatization will be built up during the first week of sightseeing and travelling in Tibet, starting with the capital Lhasa. Of course you will meet fine examples of Tibetan culture like the Potala Palace and a few of the great monasteries on the way. The second part of your journey is also meant as additional acclimatisation. You'll trek from Cho Oyu BC to Everest Rongbuk in 3 days. Plenty of opportunity to enjoy the Himalayan views. Then the final challenge: the optional climb to Everest ABC (6400 m)(***) and back in 4 days. If our physical condition allows us, a real high altitude achievement! After this you will return overland to Kathmandu, Nepal.
