Who is Asian Travel Projects? Asian Travel Projects was the initiative of and is still managed by Asia traveller, cyclist, and walker Jos van der Wiel. From as early as 1977 he has been a frequent visitor to Asian countries and organizes tours to this continent. He was one of the pioneers of the so called China adventure tourism, introducing in 1984 the self organised and in those days unique "China wander trips". He is the author of a China travelguide book and is an expert on the history and culture of China. To the frequently asked question of what attracts him to Asia, he usually answers: "The pleasant feeling of falling in love that doesn't fade away. Asia is half of my soul".
How and where to contact us? Since 2003 our company office is based in Dali, South China. The China staff is managed by Jos his full-time partner Huang Jing. The company was originally founded and is still registered in the Netherlands.
