Travellers often describe this journey as a dream come true. No railway on earth approaches this pure way of travelling better than the world's longest train ride: the Trans-Siberian Express. Six days and five nights travelling through endless grasslands, huge forests, eventually moving into desert landscape. On the way you'll pass through five time zones, two mountain ranges, and on the third day the world's biggest fresh water lake: Lake Baikal. We stop here for a few days to explore the environment and see Siberia's daily life. Whoever enters Mongolia for the first time will be surprised. The country is desolate, with huge grass plains and occasional scattered nomad tents. How can one imagine that here once existed the biggest empire in history? Later on the train will ride right across the Gobi Desert. Through the window you will see wild camel herds passing over the sand dunes. After you cross the Chinese border the landscape gradually becomes fertile again until you reach the North China mountain range with the impressive sights of the Great Wall. Your journey ends in Beijing and Xi'an.
